Where should I start? There's a lot of information on this website, and we recommend that you visit the following pages first. 1. If you live in the US, please first read your state's information by clicking on the "State Training Information" link above. 2. Read the list of questions and answers below. 3. Download the course A Joyful Life of Caregiving for free to see what Care Courses are all about. 3. Read our course listing by clicking on "Course Listing" above. We offer a lot of topics and you can scroll down to see all of them. 4. If you are interested in something specific (SIDS or the CDA or NAC renewal, for instance), click on the appropriate button on the left. We're also easy to contact with questions by using the contact information below. As always, we are here to help! How can I reach Care Courses? Phone: 1-800-685-7610. fax: 703-448-5585. You can reach us by mail at: P.O. Box 10526 McLean, Virginia 22102-8526 or by email at info@carecourses.com What hours do you answer the phones? Our phone number is 1-800-685-7610. Regular office hours are 9 AM - 5 PM (Eastern Time), Monday-Friday. Please leave a message if you get our voice mail so we can call back as soon as possible. How long are these prices effective? Until December 31, 2012. We may add new courses, but we won’t change the prices during this time. May I use these courses towards my CDA or CCP credential? Please click here for more information. What is a CEU? "Continuing Education Units" are required to renew a CDA. CEUs are determined by dividing the clock hours by 10. Are the courses accepted by the state for my annual clock hour requirements? It depends on which state you are in. Every state is different (and in Minnesota for family caregivers, every county is different.) Please click here for details. How long before I get my order? Depending on how you pay (phone, fax, internet, mail), what shipping&handling you choose (Free Standard, Priority Handling, Express) and how far you live from Washington DC (we are located in a suburb of DC), it normally takes from 2 days to 3 weeks. If you think an order has gotten lost in the mail, please call us. We would never intentionally disappoint you. If you are in a hurry, please call us and place a credit card order and ask for Rush handling which is a $10.99 charge on $200 or less. How do the courses work? You read the course material, do Self Check exercises, and then complete and send in Lesson Quizzes. You must make a passing score of at least 70% on each lesson to receive the clock hours. We cannot issue partial clock hours for a course. We issue a certificate documenting the hours you have earned and return it with your graded work. (You may redo the quizzes one time if you score lower than 70%.) Information on our different formats can be found here: Course Formats How long do I have to complete my coursework? As long as you need. We have no time limits (although your state licensing agent may!) Once you send in your lessons it normally takes up to 3 weeks for us to get them graded. Please consider using our Rush Grading options if you are in a hurry. What is the Care Courses return policy? Click here: Return Policy I don’t need 25 clock hours. Why do many of the courses offer so many clock hours? We try to cover a topic in depth each time we write a course. Sometimes this results in a longer course than other times. That is one reason why the prices are about the same for all the courses. We want everyone to be able to take the courses they are interested in regardless of clock hours or cost. Don’t worry if you get more hours than you need! What are the benefits of computer courses? Electronic courses (PDF-Courses) are ordered using our website which is always open. Courses are delivered immediately and you can get started with no delay. Once a course is completed and you've printed your answer sheets and enrollment form, these pages may be faxed to us for grading (book coursework must be mailed through the US mail or UPS). Do you offer the courses in other languages besides English? Yes, we offer some of our courses in Spanish. To see which courses are offered in Spanish, please click here. What does CARE stand for? It originally stood for "Caregiver Annual Required Education." We now offer the courses to foster parents and to child care providers who do not have annually required clock hours (like those seeking a CDA), so we don't use that full name. Remember when IBM stood for International Business Machines? Or when KFC stood for Kentucky Fried Chicken? Both of those companies only use their initials now. We are a lot smaller, but the principle is the same! Did we not list your questions? Call us at 1-800-685-7610 (or 703-448-1800) and we will try to help |
