This course applies to children of all ages.
One of our most popular courses, this course discusses adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), including child abuse and neglect, household dysfunction, and exposure to racism, as well as the long-term effects of these experiences. You will learn the risk factors for and results of child abuse and neglect, typical traits of parents who abuse and neglect their children, your responsibility to report it, and ways that you can help children. Includes strategies to strengthen families and reduce children’s risk.

Acceptance information
This course is accepted for annual state training requirements in most states including Wisconsin’s training requirement on identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect, and for the CDA and for CDA renewal training requirements.
Information on specific states:
- Illinois: This course may not be used for the mandated reporter training that must be taken through the Illinois DCFS.
- Kansas: This course is not approved for annual clock hours or to meet the Kansas requirement for training in child abuse and neglect, which must be taken in the state of Kansas.
- Nevada: This course is not approved for annual clock hours or to meet the Nevada requirement for training in child abuse and neglect, which must be taken in the state of Nevada.
- New York: This course meets the requirements for training topic 6. child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention and 10. adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), focused on understanding trauma and on nurturing resiliency.
- Pennsylvania: This course is not approved for annual clock hours or to meet the Pennsylvania requirement for training in child abuse and neglect, which must be taken through the PA Keys registry. This course may not be used for the first year abuse and neglect requirement.
- Texas: This course may not be used for the 1 clock-hour child abuse annual training requirement.
- Washington State: This course is not accepted for Washington Merit or Washington Stars clock hours.
- Wisconsin: This course can be used for Wisconsin's training requirement on identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect.
