California Requirements:  Our courses may be accepted as Professional Growth Activities in your local Compensation and Retention Encourage Stability (CARES) program.

We have been informed that our courses are accepted for the CARES program in Riverside County, California and are eligible for the Riverside County Child Care Stipend Program. For more information visit www.riversidechildcare.org

Please consult your local CARES program to learn if our courses may be used in your county. The following website provides information regarding California’s CARES program: www.childdevelopment.org

According to a consultant in San Bernardino County at the California Department of Education (916-323-1328), our courses qualify for permit renewal for preschool and after-school care teachers working in California public schools. Teachers must first obtain approval from her/his advisor.

There are 6 levels of permits (director through assistant teacher in child care and child development programs). Permit renewal requires "105 hours of professional growth." Any qualifying hours must first be approved by the teacher's advisor. "Such activities may include, but are not limited to, college or university course work, conferences, workshops, institutes, academies, symposia, and staff development programs." (From "Child Development Permits" handbook (pdf) available at www.ctc.ca.gov.) Permit renewal is monitored by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (888-921-2682).
