For centers: According to the Virginia Department of Social Services, Virginia program directors may use these courses as in-service training for child care facility staff to meet standard 22 VAC 15-30-310.C and/or 22 VAC 15-30-260.A.4 of the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers (effective June 1, 2005) provided the director oversees the course work and has verifiable expertise or experience in the course topic. The program director should be able to provide appropriate guidance as needed and will determine the number of in-service hours awarded for a particular course provided the staff person passes the lesson quizzes which must be graded by CARE Courses. Only CARE Courses may issue certificates of completion for these courses.
