Care Courses

Information on the CCP

If you wish to use Care Courses to get your CCP there are several steps you should take.

Please read the following carefully.

  1. Visit the National Child Care Association  (1-800-543-7161) website and carefully follow their instructions to register for a CCP. You can print the registration form directly from their site.

  2. To qualify you must have 720 hours of child care experience in a center-based program, be 18 years of age or more, and have a high school diploma or the equivalent.

  3. Get 180 clock hours of formal childcare education.  This is where Care Courses come in. You must have 180 clock hours which reflect 15 professional ability areas.  You will receive a list of these areas in the packet sent to you from the National Child Care Association.

  4. Complete the remaining requirements as listed in their material (director recommendation, parent recommendations, colleague recommendations, writing samples, performance observation, professional development portfolio, plans for continued professional development.)
