Please note: you must complete Great Beginnings: an Introduction to Child Care before you start working in a childcare facility. The remaining three courses must be completed within your first 90 days of work.
Course formats

Texas Pre-Service Training for Childcare Center Staff
New Texas caregivers are required to complete 24 clock hours of pre-service training [§746.1305]. Eight clock hours must be completed before the caregiver may be counted in the child/caregiver ratio, and the remaining 16 clock hours must be completed within 90 days of employment.
This 24 hour pre-service training set meets the pre-service requirements for childcare providers and center staff as defined by Rule §746.1305 of the Texas Administrative Code. This training meets the pre-service requirement for caregivers working with infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers.
TX 24 Hour Pre-Service Training Areas Covered
- Developmental stages of children;
- Age-appropriate activities for children;
- Positive guidance and discipline of children;
- Fostering children's self-esteem;
- Supervision and safety practices in the care of children;
- Positive interaction with children;
- Preventing and controlling the spread of communicable diseases, including immunizations.
- Recognizing and preventing shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma;
- Understanding and using safe sleep practices and preventing sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS); and
- Understanding early childhood brain development.
Are Any Caregivers Exempt from Pre-Service Training?
A child caregiver is exempt from the pre-service training requirement if the caregiver has at least two years prior experience in a regulated child-care center or has already completed the 24 hour pre-service training while working at another regulated childcare center.

Requirements for CEUs and Clock Hours
To earn CEUs and Clock Hours for a course, you must:

- Demonstrate comprehension of the course content
- Achieve the passing score specified in your course.
Quizzes and Assessments
- If your score falls below the passing mark, a trainer will review your work. If needed, you may be asked to speak with a trainer.
- You will have a second chance to retake any quiz or assessment.
- If you do not pass on your second attempt, contact us at info@carecourses.com. We will review your course and follow up directly.
- All quizzes are open book; all answers are found in the course material.
